Students have started the CSI seminar in Gifted. This week, they learned about the six main elements of a crime (victim, suspect, weapon, location, time, motive). Students participated in a "clue" like activity where they had to work together with limited evidence to try and solve a crime. The investigators did a great job! :)

Calculating Air Pressure
The 5th graders have now begun learning how to read and calculate air pressure as part of the Storm-E e-Mission. Student meteorologists are split as to whether there will be a storm in New York City on New Year's Eve!

Colonial Spy... Mission Complete
I feel it has been quite some time since we started Colonial Spy. Students have worked hard throughout the trimester learning how to read and create maps, learning how to decode and encode secret codes, and not only creating their own maps and codes, but solving another student's code and following the directions and map. I'm including a few pictures of students out in the hallways of the school, trying to follow the "secret" directions. (I should have brought along my video camera -- some of the students found out they had to hop while others had to sing or dance). All in all, I feel it was a great trimester. Next up -- Heroes of the World!
